Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Nurse to join our team at the Indian Health Service. As a Lead Nurse, you will be responsible for providing professional nursing duties for critically ill patients and collaborating with the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate healthcare for intensive/coronary patients.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out the duties of providing professional nursing duties for patients who are critically ill and provide nursing care to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, and socio-cultural needs of the critically ill patient and family.
  • Collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary team in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating healthcare for intensive/coronary patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote health and wellness.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
  • A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
  • Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
  • Pass the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-10: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level.
Work Environment

This position is located in a hospital setting and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a high level of patient acuity.
