This role is responsible for overseeing and sustaining all software and hardware associated with Gas SCADA and Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) to guarantee dependable functionality. The position involves implementing and designing RTU programming to facilitate field initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, maintain, and improve SCADA system software and field RTU applications.
  • Create operational pages for SCADA, generate system reports, and uphold both historical and real-time databases.
  • Program and assist in the deployment of all new and upgraded field RTUs and communication systems.
  • Manage remote communication links, including leased lines, cellular modems, radio, and fiber optics.
  • Collaborate with IT Networking and Security to ensure a reliable and secure Gas SCADA network.
  • Deliver reports and operational data to various departments and/or agencies.
  • Facilitate training and encourage innovation and user participation in system development.
  • Provide on-call support for the Real-Time SCADA system as required.

Technical Expertise/Skills/Education/Certifications:

Technical Expertise/Skills:

  • Proficiency in Accol Workbench Open BSI, Modbus, BSAP, OPC, SQL Server, TCP-IP, Microsoft Access, and Office is required. Familiarity with ClearSCADA and ControlWave Designer is preferred. A solid understanding of gas distribution system operations and telecommunications, including serial, Ethernet, and wireless, is advantageous.

Education:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering is required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of relevant experience is necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • Availability for emergency storm assignments is required.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Work is conducted in both an office setting and occasionally at field RTU locations. Office work entails sitting, standing, kneeling, and general movement throughout the gas control and server areas. Fieldwork at RTU sites necessitates appropriate attire and personal protective safety equipment.
