Position Overview:
The Patient Access Specialist is essential in facilitating quality and timely healthcare through effective scheduling, registration, and verification processes. This role aligns with ThedaCare's mission and regulatory requirements, ensuring patients can access necessary services efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and pre-register patients while ensuring the accuracy of data and insurance information.
  • Maintain patient safety by selecting the correct medical records.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and clear instructions to patients.
  • Process patient registrations and admissions promptly and accurately.
  • Collect and input critical patient information to enhance the patient experience.
  • Review patient benefits, calculate financial responsibilities, and facilitate payment processes.
  • Proactively address scheduling issues to meet the needs of stakeholders.
  • Complete administrative tasks to support operational effectiveness.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in healthcare or customer service preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • No exposure to bloodborne pathogens during the performance of duties.
Work Environment:
  • Primarily an office-based setting.
  • Regular interaction with department staff and healthcare professionals.
  • Frequent use of computers throughout the workday.
  • Compliance with specific departmental competencies is required.
