Job Summary

The City of Hamilton, OH is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Power Systems Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our Utility Operations department, you will be responsible for the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power generation systems, substations, and high-voltage underground networks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and Review Daily Operations: Confer with the Electric Power Systems Superintendent and power plant personnel to plan and review daily operations, modifications, maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Evaluate and Monitor Electrical Systems: Evaluate and monitor electrically driven auxiliary apparatus within the system, overseeing preventative maintenance as necessary.
  • Resolve Technical Problems: Resolve or assist in the resolution of technical problems in the operation and maintenance of the power plant, switchyard, duct system, and substations.
  • Direct High Voltage Switching: Direct and coordinate high-voltage switching in the absence of the Electric Power Systems Superintendent.
  • Collect and Record Data: Collect and record basic data pertaining to system equipment, facilities, and supplies data to engineering and drafting personnel for the preparation of accurate drawings.
  • Monitor Complex Systems: Monitor complex supervisory, telemetering, and control devices of the electrical system.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduation from an approved high school with an additional two years of formal college-level training in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: Considerable experience in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power generation systems, substations, and high-voltage underground network components.
