Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer III to join our team at the City of Waukesha, WI. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and managing complex engineering projects, including facilities, site development, and special projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review plans, drawings, specifications, and estimates for public works projects.
  • Manage multiple construction projects from beginning to end, including purchasing materials, inspecting and surveying staff, and public outreach.
  • Lead public information meetings and meetings with other local agencies related to project development, safety issues, and cross-governmental coordination.
  • Manage multi-party contracts between the City and consulting firms for necessary services.
  • Prepare requests for proposals/quotes for consulting and services.
  • Attend committee, board, and council meetings as needed.
  • Oversee and check the design work of other engineers in the department.
  • Coordinate with DPW operation and maintenance crews.
  • Make independent judgments and decisions with little guidance.
  • Responsible for major input into developing departmental policies.
  • Compete technical engineering research work and compile comprehensive reports with effective recommendations on engineering problems.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • At least 10 years of civil engineering experience.
  • At least one year of experience working in a supervisory capacity.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license.
