Academy of Visual and Performing Arts is a 6-12th grade, tuition-free public charter school dedicated to fostering academic and artistic excellence in students.

Position Overview:
This is a pool position, and the start date will be determined based on available vacancies. We encourage interested candidates to apply, as we will conduct interviews and maintain your application for future openings.


Employment Type:
This is a full-time role, with standard working hours typically from 7:30 am to 4:45 pm. Flexibility in scheduling is essential due to the dynamic nature of a start-up environment, and candidates should be prepared for potential travel and evening or weekend commitments. Adjustments to the schedule will be made to accommodate after-hours responsibilities as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership in School Culture
Oversee, implement, and assess the Academy's curriculum focused on emotional intelligence, executive function training, mindfulness practices, and community-building initiatives.


Lead efforts related to attendance, school culture, and student management, proactively identifying trends to address these matters effectively.

Professional Development


Facilitate professional learning opportunities for staff on evidence-based strategies that enhance physical, psychological, social, and economic well-being, as well as school culture initiatives.

Human Resource Management


Provide leadership and oversight for staff including counselors, licensed social workers, elective teachers, and volunteers to ensure operational and instructional effectiveness.

Conduct performance evaluations, observations, and feedback sessions.

Organizational Leadership


Assist in planning daily school operations by contributing to the development of master schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity planning.

Communication
Foster effective communication between the principal, staff, students, parents, and the community.

Encourage collegiality and teamwork among staff members, ensuring prompt resolution of concerns and conflicts.

Student Performance Oversight


Lead and coordinate campus personnel involved in the multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS), student success teams (SST), and other academic committees.


Supervise and monitor student attendance, spearheading initiatives to improve attendance rates in collaboration with the Director of Operations.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


The ideal candidate for the Vice Principal of School Culture position must demonstrate a strong commitment to the mission of the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts and a readiness to exceed expectations in supporting students, families, and staff.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:

- Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree in Educational Leadership preferred
- Principal certification preferred; Certified T-TESS appraiser preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience
- Proven experience in implementing and monitoring emotional intelligence and social-emotional learning initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to exceed goals through sound decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Capacity to lead and hold others accountable to high standards
- Willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Successful completion of a criminal background check is required.

Compensation and Benefits:


The Academy of Visual and Performing Arts offers competitive compensation aligned with the PK-12 charter market to ensure equity across the organization. The salary for this position ranges from $72,500 to $75,000 annually, with a commitment to internal pay equity.
