Job Overview

Machinists at Lyon Shipyard Inc. play a vital role in the production of high-quality marine equipment. The successful candidate will operate and maintain a variety of machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, and grinders, to produce precision parts and mechanisms.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate machine tools to produce precision parts and mechanisms
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine production requirements
  • Maintain dimensional accuracy by inspecting parts and using precision measuring instruments
  • Perform machine repairs, modifications, and testing as required
  • Lift and move heavy equipment and parts up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 70 pounds

Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required
  • Apprentice or trade school experience preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in trade for 1st Class Machinist, 3+ years for 2nd Class, and 1+ year for 3rd Class
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Ability to work in a shipyard environment with extreme heights, confined spaces, and physical labor
  • Ability to pass Physical Agility Test
