Maintenance Equipment Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Equipment Specialist to join our team at MHI Ship Repair & Services.
About the Company
Located in the Mid-Atlantic region, our shipyard serves the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration, and commercial ship owners and operators worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Routine Maintenance: Perform regular vehicle inspections and maintenance on company vehicles, cranes, and forklift equipment.
- Repair and Replacement: Carry out necessary general repairs or replace parts as needed, including oil changes, engine tuning, fluid refilling, belt examination, brake setting, and more.
- Equipment Operation: Start-up and shutdown equipment according to company safety procedures and OSHA requirements.
- Parts Coordination: Work with facilities department personnel to obtain needed parts and ensure timely installation.
- Maintenance Documentation: Document all maintenance completed on vehicles.
- Repairs and Escalations: Inform supervisors of repairs that require outsourcing or escalation due to specialized nature.
- Refueling Assistance: Assist with refueling company vehicles as needed.
- Guidance and Communication: Follow verbal and written guidance from supervisors.
- Safety Notification: Notify supervisor of any safety or equipment issues.
- Cleanliness: Maintain a clean work area.
Additional Responsibilities
- Professional Development: Learn additional responsibilities and skills associated with the trade.
- Ad Hoc Duties: Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Work Experience: Three years of experience as a fleet mechanic or auto mechanic, with vocational school or technical college training in mechanical or automotive engineering preferred.
- Licenses and Certifications: Minimum one year of experience working on forklifts and cranes, with the ability to obtain a license for forklift and JLG manlifts.
- Skills and Knowledge: Thorough understanding of repair tools, equipment, and testing machinery; familiarity with hydraulic pumps and machinery.
- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work independently after given instructions and effectively with others.
- Reliability: Must be a steady, reliable worker.
- Driving Record: Drivers License and Good Driving Record Required.
