Staff Psychologist Family Therapy

This position is a Staff Psychologist in the Family Therapy program at the VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION. The incumbent will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with a range of psychiatric disorders using various treatment modalities. The position requires a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA).
Responsibilities
The Staff Psychologist will be responsible for conducting psychological evaluations, providing psychoeducation to patients and their families, and providing comprehensive, evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions. The incumbent will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and documenting treatment plans for patients, and providing consultation to professional staff within the El Paso VAHCS and to community providers concerning clinical assessment findings and appropriate treatment plans. Additionally, the Staff Psychologist will be responsible for conducting research activities, such as designing and implementing clinical research projects, and providing basic research tasks of scholarship and research execution within the context of an established research team.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the APA, PCSAS, or CPA, and will be licensed to practice independently in the provision of psychological services. The candidate will also have experience working with behavioral health populations, and will be able to provide professional advice and consultation in areas related to professional psychology and behavioral health. Additionally, the candidate will have knowledge of clinical research literature and will be able to design and implement effective treatment strategies. The candidate will also be able to work independently as a member of the El Paso VAHCS Medical Staff with full clinical privileges, and will be able to assume complete professional responsibility for their clinical assessment findings, patient care decisions, and clinical documentation.
Working Conditions
The work is sedentary, with some movement between offices, hospitals, warehouses, and similar areas for meetings and to conduct work. The incumbent may carry and lift light items weighing less than 15 pounds. The work may also require walking/standing, in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and/or conferences away from the work site.
