Job Description:

The Army Platforms Department at The MITRE Corporation is seeking an Associate Autonomous Systems Engineer to contribute to the development of next-generation autonomous capabilities for the Army.

This role involves working in a team environment to research, develop, and integrate state-of-the-art autonomous systems, including artificial intelligence, mission autonomy, and advanced sensing.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field, and experience with coding languages such as Python, C++, and Java.

Additionally, the candidate should have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and have experience working collaboratively in a team environment.

The selected candidate will be responsible for developing, evaluating, and implementing autonomous systems capabilities, maintaining knowledge of autonomous systems and robotics, and collaborating with sponsors and other partners to integrate systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement autonomous systems capabilities
  • Maintain knowledge of autonomous systems and robotics
  • Collaborate with sponsors and other partners to integrate systems
  • Develop and propose new approaches to technical problems involving autonomous systems
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field
  • Less than 1 year of experience in a related field
  • Prior experience as an intern at The MITRE Corporation in the last 12 months
  • Experience with coding languages such as Python, C++, and Java
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Current and active DoD Secret clearance, with eligibility for Top Secret
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current and active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Experience developing software or hardware prototypes
  • Experience working on ground or airborne defense systems
