Job Summary

The Clinical Dietitian II works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate evidence-based medical nutrition therapy that aligns with patient-focused medical goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) through nutrition-focused physical exams.
  • Conduct nutrition/malnutrition assessments, diagnoses, interventions, monitoring, and evaluating patient progress.
  • Utilize practice-specific dietetics and evidence-based protocols to determine nutrition interventions.
  • Perform business functions, such as resource management and compliance with quality performance improvement efforts.
  • Participate in team conferences, provide nutrition-related in-services, and contribute to hospital policy development.
  • Assist in achieving compliance with regulatory agency standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree from a US regionally accredited university or college with ACEND-accredited coursework.
  • Master's degree in a related field for new graduates becoming licensed after 1/1/2024.
  • Completion of a Coordinated Program in Dietetics or Dietetic Internship accredited by ACEND.
  • Registered Dietitian (RD) certification by The Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Licensed as a Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) by the North Carolina Board of Dietetics and Nutrition.
  • Three years of experience as an RD with two years in the clinical specialty area or three years of nutrition experience in a tertiary care, teaching hospital.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical nutrition therapy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
  • Ability to function independently on assigned patient care units.
  • General knowledge of nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
