Job Overview:

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking qualified candidates for the role of EMS Hourly Instructor. This position is designed for those who are passionate about educating future emergency medical professionals across various levels, including EMT, AEMT, and Paramedic.

As an EMS Instructor, your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Delivering engaging lectures and practical skill sessions that adhere to National EMS Education Standards.
  • Conducting assessments that evaluate cognitive, psychomotor, and effective skills of students.
  • Managing classroom activities that enhance the learning experience in EMS education.
  • Potential travel for instructional purposes.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient knowledge in EMS subject matter from EMT to Paramedic levels.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering course content effectively.
  • Familiarity with instructional technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Valid EMS certification.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of one year teaching experience in Basic and Advanced life support EMS.
  • AHA Instructor Certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS).
  • At least two years of advanced life support experience as a pre-hospital EMS provider.
  • Certification in International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS).
  • Associate's Degree with proven competency in the teaching field.
  • Current National Registry Paramedic Certification.
  • Certification from the Virginia Office of EMS Education Coordinator.
