Summit Polymers, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Department Manager - Assembly to join our team in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. As a leading Tier 1 Automotive Supplier of automotive interior systems, we specialize in the engineering, manufacturing, and assembly of feature-based registers, consoles, and trim panels.
About the Role:The Department Manager - Assembly will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the production operations on all shifts through subordinate Supervisors and Team Leaders. The successful candidate will ensure on-time delivery of quality product at the most economical cost.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan and improve standardized production methods and objectives to achieve safety, quality, delivery, environmental, and cost targets.
- Assure proper staffing, development of staff, training, and employee involvement in appropriate areas.
- Lead department in continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.
- Troubleshoot and develop countermeasures for all departmental problems, including quality, productivity, and employee relations.
- Assure safe practices and the maintenance of proper equipment conditions.
- Review practices and procedures, and lead activities directed toward implementation of Summit Lean Manufacturing Systems to eliminate all forms of waste.
- Interface with other departmental units to ensure customer satisfaction targets are achieved.
- Interface with Engineering in KBPD procedures, VE/VA opportunities, and new product launches.
- Manage all production activities in related departments.
- Direction, motivation, and review of Manufacturing Supervisors.
The ideal candidate will possess a college degree and 2 years of manufacturing experience or 4 years of progressive experience in a technical or management position in a manufacturing environment. Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to gather and analyze information and make decisions from a limited number of choices.
