Patient Services Representative

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team at Prisma Health. As a key member of our Maternal Fetal Medicine department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our front office and providing exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and timely patient registration, pre-certification, and charge capture services.
- Process and post payments, as well as balance computer reports at the end of each day.
- Assist patients with insurance claims, disability insurance benefits, home health care, medical equipment, and surgical care.
- Process benefit correspondence, signature, and insurance forms to expedite payment of outstanding claims.
- Follow up with insurance companies to ensure coverage is approved and claims are paid as directed.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including filing and purging obsolete records.
- Perform cashiering functions, including monitoring and balancing cash drawers daily.
- Prepare daily cash deposits and issue receipts to patients.
- Code and post payments, maintaining required records, reports, and files.
- Work with patients to secure prepayment sources or financial agreements prior to providing service.
- Participate in educational activities and contribute to the development of the team.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- No previous experience required, but an Associate's Degree in a technical specialty program or multi-specialty group practice setting experience is preferred.
- Basic understanding of ICD-9 and CPT coding is preferred.
Work Environment
This is a non-management role that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. The work environment is fast-paced and requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
