Library Assistant

Fort Bend County is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our team at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library. As a Library Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service to our patrons, assisting with daily library operations, and supporting the professional staff in delivering high-quality library services.

• Assist with Patron Services: Provide assistance to patrons in locating materials and information, answering reference questions, and helping with technology-related issues.
• Support Library Operations: Assist with shelving books, processing materials, and maintaining the overall organization of the library.
• Participate in Programs and Events: Assist with planning and implementing programs for children and adults, including storytime, book clubs, and other community events.
• Develop Skills and Knowledge: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest library technologies, resources, and best practices.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent and 48 credit hours of college; transcripts required.
• Experience: Relevant experience working with children in groups preferred.
• Skills: Typing and keyboarding skills, computer skills involving use of the Internet and database searching, good communication skills, and ability to interact easily with staff and public.
• Physical Demands: Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift library materials up to 25 lbs.

Fort Bend County offers a competitive salary of $15.00 per hour, 24 hours per week, and a comprehensive benefits package, including membership in the Texas County District Retirement System (TCDRS) and a wide range of great benefits for full-time employees.
