We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Staff Attorney to join our Health Law Partnership team at the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in improving the health and well-being of low-income children by providing expert legal services and advocating for their rights.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work closely with medical professionals, social workers, and other healthcare specialists to address the complex legal issues affecting our clients' health. Your expertise in areas such as public benefits, housing conditions, disability rights, and family law will be invaluable in helping us achieve our mission.

Responsibilities
  • Perform client intake, provide referrals, and offer advice or representation in civil legal matters affecting children's health.
  • Train and coordinate with doctors, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective collaboration and service delivery.
  • Participate in task forces and committees of service providers to advance our shared goals and objectives.
Requirements

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must have a Georgia bar license or eligibility for the next exam, and a minimum of 2 years of relevant legal experience. Additionally, you should possess excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to public service, participation in law school clinics, trial advocacy courses, and familiarity with areas of poverty law.
  • Previous work experience with low-income persons and/or individuals with serious health issues, and knowledge of health law, poverty law, and children's legal issues.
  • Proficiency in languages other than English and willingness to improve language skills.
Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $58,000 per year, which may increase based on actual experience. Our comprehensive benefits package includes generous fringe benefits, including 18 paid holidays, 6 weeks paid time off, 6 weeks parental leave, health insurance, life insurance, and long-term disability insurance.
