Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Staff Attorney to join our Veterans Law Project, located in downtown Atlanta. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of low-income and homeless veterans in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interview and counsel clients, providing referrals, advice, and representation in civil legal matters including eviction defense, VA benefits, public benefits, and health insurance.
  • Work with pro bono volunteers in a clinic setting, conduct outreach and community education for clients, and collaborate with community service partners to identify civil legal needs of veterans.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A Georgia bar license or eligibility for the next exam, along with 2 years of legal experience.
  • Motivated and self-directed individual with excellent legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong communication and listening skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, adaptability, eagerness to learn, and openness to evaluation.
  • Prior military service and proficiency in languages other than English highly valued.

Benefits and Salary

This position offers a competitive salary of $58,000, based on two years of legal experience. Benefits include 18 paid holidays, 6 weeks paid time off, parental leave, and health insurance. We also offer educational loan reimbursement, tax-sheltered annuity, and more.
