Ophthalmic Assistant

As an Ophthalmic Assistant at Washington University in St. Louis, you will be responsible for maintaining patient records and scheduling appointments in IDX. You will also answer phones, greet patients, verify correct billing information, and prepare charts for office visits.
Clinical SupportYou will assist with the clinical workup of patients, including visual acuity, applanation pressures, history, keratometry, autorefraction, color vision, stereopsis, and EYESYS. Additionally, you will instruct patients in the proper care and insertion/removal of contact lenses, modify and/or polish contacts, and maintain inventory of materials and clean instruments.
Working ConditionsThis role is based in a normal office environment, with typical sitting at a desk or table. You will work with office equipment and be required to maintain examination rooms and supplies.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need a high school diploma or equivalent high school certification, or a combination of education and/or experience. You will also require Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or CPR St Louis. Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
