Senior Vice President of Risk Management

Arena Investors, LP, a prominent global investment management firm, is dedicated to achieving compelling risk-adjusted returns through a value-oriented investment strategy across diverse credit markets where traditional capital sources are limited.

We are in search of a Senior Vice President of Risk Management to establish a premier risk oversight function that will encompass Arena's key business operations. The individual in this newly formed position will collaborate closely with our Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and Business Leaders to provide strategic guidance and oversight in managing and anticipating risks at both the enterprise and business segment levels.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the CCO, CTO, Head of Asset Management, and other Business Leaders to develop a comprehensive framework for monitoring, measuring, and mitigating various risk factors, including credit, operational, interest rate, counterparty, market, and key personnel risks.

• Assess risk management policies, risk appetite, and limits across each business unit, focusing on standardizing practices and Key Performance Indicators.

• Analyze macroeconomic disruptions to gauge their potential impact on the organization.

• Provide counsel and insights to leadership regarding new business ventures and long-term risk management strategies.

• Pursue technological advancements and innovative solutions to align systems with effective reporting mechanisms.

• Collaborate with Business Leaders to generate risk reports and trend analyses on a Quarterly/Semi-Annual basis in a standardized 'Dashboard' format.

• Engage in leadership meetings to present a holistic view of corporate risk.

• Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in the field of enterprise risk management.

• Partner with individual business unit risk management teams to devise creative strategies for minimizing the firm's risk exposure.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from a prestigious university.

• MBA or another advanced degree is preferred.

• Over 5 years of experience at a senior level managing or supporting a risk function within an insurance company asset management context.

• Proven track record in designing and implementing enterprise-wide risk management systems for both liquid and illiquid assets, along with reporting for complex organizations.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with all management levels.
