Position Summary

We are in search of a highly talented and forward-thinking Materials Informatics Research Scientist to become a vital part of our advanced materials division. The ideal candidate will leverage high-performance computing (HPC) and data-centric methodologies to expedite the discovery, design, and enhancement of advanced composite materials. This role entails collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to employ computational techniques and data analytics to address intricate material science challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the technical strategy in collaboration with government entities and mentor junior and mid-level personnel.
  • Develop and execute high-performance computing models and simulations to investigate the behavior and efficacy of advanced composite materials.
  • Apply data-driven methodologies, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, to analyze extensive datasets and derive significant insights for material design.
  • Work alongside material scientists, engineers, and data scientists to amalgamate computational and experimental data for a holistic understanding of materials.
  • Conduct multi-scale modeling and simulations to correlate microstructural characteristics with macroscopic properties.
  • Design and implement computational experiments to forecast material properties and steer the creation of new composite materials.
  • Evaluate simulation and experimental data to validate models and enhance their predictive accuracy.
  • Draft technical reports, presentations, and publications to disseminate research outcomes.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in materials science, computational science, electrical engineering, or a related discipline, with a focus on high-performance computing and data-driven research, accompanied by 8 years of experience, or 6 years with a Master's degree, or 3 years with a PhD.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Over 5 years of experience in computational modeling and simulation of composite materials.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading technical projects and teams.
  • Strong proficiency in high-performance computing platforms and software, including MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, and related tools.
  • Expertise in data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence techniques.
  • Experience with multi-scale modeling and the integration of various simulation methods.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  • Experience in a collaborative research environment, effectively working with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the aerospace, automotive, or renewable energy sectors.
  • Familiarity with materials characterization techniques and their integration with computational models.
  • Experience in grant writing and securing funding for research initiatives.
  • Ability to develop projects utilizing a combination of Python, MATLAB, C, and data processing languages.

Compensation

The typical compensation range for this position is between $130,000 and $220,000, based on experience, location, and other relevant factors.
