Job Summary

To provide exceptional customer service and ensure a positive experience for patients, visitors, and vendors at St. Barnabas Hospital.

The Concierge Services Representative will provide accurate and timely information, as well as courteous service, to the public and hospital personnel while maintaining a safe and secure facility location.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Actively greet and welcome all arrivals, ensuring eye contact and a timely and pleasant greeting.
  • Access patient location and pertinent information, issue and collect patient visitor passes, and direct inquiries as necessary.
  • Direct patients and visitors to appropriate service locations, explain visitor and vendor policies, and answer visitor and vendor inquiries.
  • Provide information on hospital services, maintain brochures and other printed materials, and respond to language access needs.
  • Answer telephone inquiries, including service locations, transportation routes, and directions, and secure wheelchair service when needed.
  • Participate in hospital public awareness campaigns, assist in development and maintenance of closed cable TV information, and monitor Lobby bulletin board announcements.
  • Maintain control of the lobby waiting area, including lights, PSA music, and TV, and respond to any alarming situations.
  • Establish and maintain a resource directory on community vendors and serve as a resource to ALWAYS Caring and other volunteer program members.
  • Provide coverage for vacations and sick time as needed and perform any duty assigned within the scope of the job.
Core Expectations
  • Promote a safe, cooperative, and professional healthcare environment to ensure optimum patient care consistent with St. Barnabas policies.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, including absenteeism, ETIME, cellular phone usage, dress code, and rules of conduct.
  • Makes customer service a priority, treating customers in a professional manner, exercising courtesy and tact.
  • Effectively communicates with patients and others about St. Barnabas services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility.

Minimum Education: High School diploma/GED. Minimum Related Experience: Demonstrated familiarity with Bronx County, strong interpersonal communication skills, and an overtly pleasant disposition. Minimum Licensing Requirements: Security license. Minimum Certification Requirements: N/A. Minimum Computer Skills: Basic computer skills. General Skills: Bi-lingual conversational English/Spanish.
