Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Vehicle and Heavy-Duty Technician to join our team at Harford County Public Schools. As a key member of our Transportation Department, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of vehicles, ensuring the safety and reliability of our transportation services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean, lubricate, and maintain mechanical equipment for HCPS Fleet vehicles
  • Assist with performing preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and maintenance of all Fleet vehicles
  • Assist with moving and cleaning school bus safety equipment and supplies as needed
  • Establish a working relationship with administrators and keep them informed on preventative maintenance work performed
  • Clean assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior, for the purpose of maintaining appearance, sanitation, and safety of vehicle
  • Clean and organize work area for the purpose of maintaining a safe and sanitary work area
  • Maintain tools and cleaning equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability of tools and equipment, and safety within the workspace
  • Sweep, mop, and scrub floors, walls, and partitions; clean and deodorize HCPS school bus fleet
  • Wash and clean windows, seats, floors, and other items as needed
  • Assist in snow removal by scraping buses as needed or assisting in snow removal process as otherwise directed
  • Prepare written materials for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and meeting mandated requirements
  • Attend department meetings for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions
  • Respond to emergency situations, including but not limited to inclement weather assignments, vandalism, and emergency repairs
Requirements
  • Must be a current HCPS student between 16-18 years of age
  • Must provide own transportation to and from assigned work location
  • Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations
