Lead Equipment Maintenance Specialist

SUMMARY
The Equipment Maintenance Lead will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of machinery, ensuring efficient operation, managing spare parts inventory, and minimizing production interruptions. This role requires strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and leadership abilities in troubleshooting industrial control systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure minimal downtime of production machinery.
Lead and conduct repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on various industrial equipment, including thermoforming machines, CNC machines, and air compressors.
Repair, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial electrical controls along with hydraulic, vacuum, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Act as the technical authority, guiding and executing both technical and routine maintenance tasks.
Maintain accurate equipment records within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and document all relevant data.
Establish and manage spare parts inventory, including ordering and stocking necessary components.
Ensure the integrity of equipment manuals and documentation is upheld.
Promote and adhere to safe work practices, including lockout/tagout procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Develop strategies to improve processes, procedures, and systems for enhanced efficiency and reliability.
Oversee the maintenance and repair of facilities and infrastructure, including drywall, plumbing, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
Manage hazardous waste storage, conduct inspections, and maintain accurate records of collection services.
Obtain service quotes and supervise contractors performing onsite services.
Oversee projects, ensuring contractor safety, performance, and adherence to timelines.
Serve as the primary contact for construction projects and services, including various trades and supply services.
Act as the point of contact for facility compliance matters, including inspections and audits.

SUPERVISORY ROLE
This position involves overseeing and managing a team or individual contributors to ensure performance and job satisfaction while supporting career development.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in essential job functions. The following qualifications are required:
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or equivalent, such as vocational training.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing electro-mechanical equipment in an industrial setting.
At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role within equipment maintenance.
A minimum of 4 years of experience in facilities maintenance.
Experience in supervision and project management is preferred.
Journeyman-level certifications in electrical, HVAC, machining, or tool and die making are advantageous.
Consideration will be given to candidates with electro-mechanical apprenticeships or relevant education.
Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Lean methodologies is beneficial.
CERTIFICATIONS
Valid driver's license.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Conversational skills in additional languages are a plus.
SKILLS
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and SharePoint.
- Knowledge of ERP systems, particularly SAP, is preferred.
- Extensive understanding of electrical controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, vacuum, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot using PLC I.O.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics.
- Experience in inventory management and organization.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Competency in mechanical disassembly, repair, and reassembly.
- Ability to identify and replace worn components to prevent future failures.
- Competency in facilities maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, drywall, and HVAC systems.
- Managerial courage to proactively address issues and conflicts.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
