Maintenance Mechanic Assistant

Position Summary
The role of the maintenance mechanic assistant involves supporting the maintenance mechanic in various tasks related to machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Under the guidance of the Maintenance Mechanic, engage in a variety of tasks including sorting and counting parts, inspecting materials for quality, and transporting equipment.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools for filing, trimming, drilling, and deburring components.
- Perform lubrication and cleaning of machinery and parts.
- Assist in the installation of jacks and hoists for equipment elevation.
- Employ metalworking tools such as presses and grinders to fabricate and repair components.
- Execute cutting and welding tasks (MIG and Stick) under supervision.
- Adhere to OSHA safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of workspaces.

- Technical proficiency in maintenance tasks.
- Sound judgment and discretion.
Supervisory Role
This position does not entail supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
Employees may encounter fumes, airborne particles, and mechanical vibrations. The work environment may also include exposure to various extreme conditions, with a high noise level.
Physical Requirements
This position demands physical activity, including frequent talking and hearing. Employees will be required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, and climb throughout the day. The ability to lift and move items exceeding 50 pounds is essential. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with specific hours for day and night shifts.
Travel Requirements
While travel is generally not anticipated, occasional out-of-area travel may be necessary for equipment installation.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Basic education sufficient to perform job functions and complete safety training.
- Some prior mechanical experience or knowledge is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Training in general safety practices.
