Position: Mechanical Technician II
SUMMARY:
The primary role of the Mechanical Technician is to install, troubleshoot, clean, inspect, and maintain mechanical systems throughout the facility in a safe, environmentally compliant, and professional manner.
SAFETY:
Adhere to all safety protocols, including:
- Staying current on all safety training
- Wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) such as steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and ear protection
- Understanding Lock Out Tag Out procedures for designated areas
- Performing tasks in accordance with OSHA guidelines and company policies
- Completing General Plant Safety Training within the initial weeks of employment
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following outlines the key responsibilities associated with the Mechanical Technician position:
- Monitor and maintain facility equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Adhere to all environmental compliance, health, and safety regulations
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance procedures with minimal supervision
- Initiate and complete work orders and maintain accurate documentation
- Be available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime as needed
- Respond to emergency repair requests during off-hours
- Proactively identify and address improvement opportunities
- Assist in training and supervising other team members
- Assume additional responsibilities as required
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
Essential skills and knowledge include:
- Proficient use of hand tools and portable power tools
- Understanding of mechanical fasteners and their applications
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Experience in troubleshooting mechanical issues
- Welding and fabrication skills, including compliance with industry standards
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in mechanical maintenance or 1 year as a Mechanical Technician I
CERTIFICATIONS:
Relevant certifications as required by state and federal regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be capable of lifting at least 50 lbs and performing physical tasks in a dynamic environment.
