Job Summary

PacifiCorp is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist II to join our T&D Operations team. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical support on complex projects related to wildfire mitigation, asset performance, and T&D operations across six states.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research studies and technical analyses to support company objectives, including wildfire risk modeling and analysis, electric service reliability analysis, and ad hoc projects.
  • Support data science projects, processes, or systems over the life cycle of the project, including project identification, scope development, implementation, and long-term operations and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and regulatory teams to analyze complex problems, identify issues, innovate, and deliver solutions consistent with established schedules.
  • Provide technical expertise across business units to support functions such as wildfire mitigation and reliability within the T&D Operations organization.
  • Develop detailed computational analysis, including data science, computer modeling, and scripting, and integrate methods and products within and across company software products.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Math, or Engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • Demonstrated experience in Python (or related language) and knowledge of SQL query construction and optimization.
  • Technical writing skills and ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way through visualizations.
  • Ability to review scientific literature and incorporate knowledge into ongoing projects.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and knowledge of industry best practices for data science and data governance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Python (or related language) and associated libraries for machine learning.
  • Experience working in the utilities, risk management, or wildfire mitigation sector.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Azure Machine Learning environment.
  • Experience with C#, Spark, or R.

PacifiCorp offers a competitive salary range of $87,600-$103,100, an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 12%, and a comprehensive benefits package, including health care, retirement, paid time off, tuition assistance, paid short-term and long-term disability, and paid bereavement leave.
