The Job

The Assistant General Manager is responsible for assisting and supporting the General Manager in managing the daily operations of the restaurant. This includes selecting, developing, and performing employees, overseeing inventory and ordering, optimizing profits, and ensuring guests are satisfied with their dining experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct orientation, explain the MAD Greens Philosophy, and oversee the training of new employees.
  2. Assist in developing employees by providing ongoing feedback and establishing performance expectations.
  3. Ensure proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests, and company assets.
  4. Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural issues.
  5. Interview hourly employees, support hiring, supervision, development, and assist in the termination process if applicable.
  6. Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents. Complete accident reports promptly in the event that a guest or employee is injured.
  7. Support and assist the General Manager in running shifts, including daily decision-making, scheduling, and planning while upholding standards, product quality, and cleanliness.
  8. Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality and service as needed.
  9. Prepare schedules and ensure the restaurant is staffed for all shifts.
  10. Help drive positive guest service in all areas. Respond to complaints, taking any and all appropriate actions to turn dissatisfied guests into return guests.
  11. Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness, and maintenance of kitchen and dining areas. Ensure compliance with operational standards, company policies, federal/state/local laws, and ordinances.
  12. Responsible for ensuring consistent high quality of food preparation and service.
  13. Maintain a professional restaurant image, including restaurant cleanliness, proper uniforms, and appearance standards.
  14. Supervise portion control and quantities of preparation to minimize waste.
  15. Estimate food needs, place orders with distributors, and schedule the delivery of fresh food and supplies.
  16. Assist the General Manager with weekly and bi-weekly tasks such as payroll and inventory.

  6. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks such as food, beverage, and labor cost while maintaining required standards of operation in daily restaurant activities.
  7. Ability to determine the applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants.
  8. Good attention to detail and good organizational skills.
