Position Overview:

The role involves overseeing immediate repairs of an Access Bridge along a major parkway, as well as the rehabilitation of a significant federal Access Bridge. Responsibilities also include pavement restoration of bridge approaches and interchange ramps, replacement of damaged guardrails, and various other tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections related to traffic management, environmental compliance, layout, construction techniques, materials, and all aspects of the project’s construction.
  • Evaluate the quality of the contractor's daily operations, reviewing and advising on the acceptance or rejection of daily reports submitted by the contractor.
  • Ensure adherence to the approved Quality Control Plan and established protocols.
  • Review material submissions and testing procedures for compliance with contract specifications and maintain the project Material Register.
  • Measure and document quantities of materials used, perform takeoffs to ensure compliance with required amounts, and assist in finalizing quantities for monthly progress estimates.
  • Maintain a daily project diary and complete necessary documentation such as Inspector's Daily Reports (IDR).
  • Effectively coordinate and schedule tasks, demonstrating proficiency in software tools including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and scheduling programs like Primavera or equivalent.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in the highway/bridge construction field is required.
  • NICET Level III or higher in bridge construction.
  • EIT Certification.
  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in construction engineering, including at least 1 year as a Project or Resident Engineer on State or Federal Highway bridge construction projects.
  • Ability to interpret project plans, specifications, contracts, regulations, schedules, submittals, and cost estimates.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluating the quality control inspection and testing of construction contractors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Primavera, and/or other scheduling software.
