Job Summary

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking a skilled Medical Technologist to join our team in the Core Chemistry Lab. As a Medical Technologist, you will be responsible for performing various laboratory tests and procedures on body fluids, utilizing automated analyzers and manual test procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures on body fluids, utilizing laboratory equipment
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab instruments; identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or report of test results and either correct or immediately notify supervisor
  • Report accurate laboratory tests in a timely manner following technical procedures, using the clinical lab information system and/or back-up to enter and verify test results
  • Adhere to the laboratory quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations
  • Participate in the proficiency testing program, maintain competence, and attend all required safety/infection control/departmental sessions and further continuing education

Requirements

  • AS, MLT (ASCP) or BS, MT (ASCP) or nationally recognized equivalent; degree must be in a clinical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical lab experience in chemistry and/or hematology required
  • ASCP or equivalent (AMT, NCA) preferred
