POSITION OVERVIEW
The instructor will deliver courses within the designated discipline(s) and is responsible for the ongoing development and enhancement of the curriculum relevant to their instructional area. This role may require teaching assignments during the day, evening, weekends, and through high-quality correspondence education modalities. Training will be provided.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Deliver instruction across all areas of the approved discipline.
  2. Prepare, assess, and update course materials and curriculum.
  3. Maintain organized records of courses and student performance.
  4. Uphold the college's rules and regulations.
  5. Utilize approved textbooks and adhere to course objectives, content, and evaluation standards as outlined in the course syllabus.
  6. Adhere to the scheduled class days and hours as indicated in the class schedule.
  7. Maintain accurate grade and attendance records for each student and submit them to the records office by the established deadlines.
  8. Administer final examinations according to the official schedule unless otherwise authorized.
  9. Notify the Instructional Services Department promptly if unable to fulfill assigned duties.
  10. Attend part-time faculty meetings as requested.
  11. Return all keys at the conclusion of each semester.
  12. Stay current in one's academic field(s).
  13. Collaborate effectively with full-time faculty and staff.
  14. Demonstrate effective communication skills.
  15. Perform additional related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  1. A Master's degree in Sociology; OR a Bachelor's degree in Sociology combined with a Master's degree in Anthropology, Ethnic Studies, Social Work, or Psychology; OR equivalent qualifications.
  2. Awareness and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Prior teaching experience, preferably at the community college level.
  2. A strong commitment to addressing the needs of students from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, along with experience in multicultural teaching.
  3. Additional academic qualifications that enable instruction in another discipline.
