We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician II to join our team at Keck Medicine of USC. As a key member of our Sterile Processing Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety by processing and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Instrument Preparation and Sterilization: Assemble and package surgical instrument sets, operate steam and hydrogen peroxide sterilizers, and maintain sterilization documentation.
- Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and address routine equipment issues, maintain sterilization equipment, and perform quality assurance checks.
- Inventory Management and Distribution: Maintain sterile inventory, perform par level maintenance, and distribute sterile instrumentation to appropriate locations.
- Communication and Training: Communicate effectively with outside departments and sterile processing technicians, train and assist new staff members, and provide guidance on departmental policies and procedures.
- Education and Certification: High school diploma or equivalent, completion of a Sterile Processing Program or accredited Surgical Technician program, and current certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (HSPA, CBSPD) or Certified Surgical Tech (CST) or Surgery-Certified Credential (TS-C) from CAAHEP or ABHES.
- Experience and Skills: 1 year of experience in Sterile Processing, basic knowledge of computer systems, ability to operate complex machinery, and demonstrated ability to perform multiple complex tasks.
- Fire Life Safety Training: Current certification in Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) or equivalent.
Hourly Rate Range: $20.80 - $35.36
