Job Title: Automation Specialist 5(Medium Voltage)

We are seeking an experienced Automation Specialist 5(Medium Voltage) to join our team at CDM Smith. This role will involve designing and implementing complex instrumentation, controls, and related systems for medium voltage applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the design of basic to highly complex instrumentation, controls, and related systems for medium voltage applications.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and develop technical memoranda related to design issues.
  • Prepare preliminary design reports (PDRs) and coordinate design reconciliation with clients.
  • Create human-machine interface (HMI) designs, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and reports.
  • Assist in the testing and startup of instrumentation, controls, and related systems.
  • Develop systems training for end users and review component-level shop drawings and contractor clarifications.
  • Perform and oversee testing and field inspections, and complete testing and startup documentation as required.
  • Lead teams of junior staff and provide direction and mentoring.
  • Participate in the Automation Community of Practice (CoP) and focus on an area of specialty.
  • Prepare proposal sections and presentations, and support marketing and new business activities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 7 years of related experience, with domestic and/or international travel possible.
  • Expert knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and related systems designs, PLC, and HMI experience required.
  • Excellent communication and client relation skills, and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Fully competent in 3D and 4D design practices.
