Math and Science Teacher Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Mathematics and Science teacher to join our elementary and middle school community at a private progressive school in Queens, NY. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in Common Core Standards and differentiated instruction, with a commitment to working collaboratively and becoming part of a professional learning community.

Responsibilities:
  • Professionalism and Collaboration: Demonstrate extraordinary professionalism in service of the mission, design and participate in positive learning environments, build strong relationships, and be a self-starter comfortable with change and risk-taking.
  • Effective Teaching Practice: Develop and facilitate authentic learning experiences, utilize in-depth understanding of content, assessment, and learning progressions, and make practices clear and accessible.
  • Pursuing STREAM Academy's Pedagogy: Demonstrate orientation towards and commitment to a whole-child vision for teaching and learning, understand and employ techniques for developing knowledge, skills, habits, and metacognition, and promote student agency and ownership.
  • Supporting STREAM Academy's Growth: Ensure a constantly open classroom, create a welcoming and collaborative visitor experience, and contribute to the growth of the school through effective communication and individual initiative.
Qualifications:
  • Basic Qualifications: Prior experience with creating whole-child learning activities, demonstrated academic results, and fostering social emotional learning in student experiences, passion for working with children, commitment to continuous professional learning, and a collaborative mindset.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Undergraduate or graduate degree in Education, prior experience collaborating with other educators, and prior experience leading curriculum development and/or assessment.
