The Cybersecurity Operations Specialist will collaborate within a dedicated team, focusing on various aspects of cybersecurity operations across multiple campuses. The role also involves developing, maintaining, and documenting essential cybersecurity operational analysis processes as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor cybersecurity systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Secure both online and on-premises infrastructures, identifying and mitigating potential cybersecurity threats before they escalate.
  • Lead initiatives to address cybersecurity breaches, proactively reducing the likelihood of future incidents.
  • Define, plan, implement, maintain, and enhance security measures, policies, and controls.
  • Prepare reports and provide insights regarding the effectiveness of current cybersecurity policies, incident responses, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Assist in creating updates and training programs to enhance network security awareness among employees.
  • Ensure cybersecurity systems are current, utilizing software such as firewalls and data encryption to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Oversee security access and maintain relevant data records.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and risk analyses to evaluate security posture.
  • Perform internal and external cybersecurity audits.
  • Execute penetration testing to identify exploitable vulnerabilities in networks, computers, and web-based applications.
  • Analyze cybersecurity incidents to determine root causes and refine incident response and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Coordinate security plans with external vendors as necessary.
  • Develop procedures for IT personnel and provide training in security awareness.
  • Fulfill various duties as required to effectively support the role.

Location: Hybrid work model available for qualified candidates.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree, AND:
  • 24 months of experience in IT Security Administration or a related field.
Equivalency/Substitution: Accepts 48 months of relevant experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree for a total of 72 months of experience.

  • Capacity to thrive in high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and teaching skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Detail-oriented approach to data accuracy.
  • Familiarity with web servers, file servers, and workstation configurations.
  • Understanding of Windows/Mac/Linux operating systems and vulnerability scanning.
  • Experience in conducting internal investigations in line with established policies.
  • Ability to collaborate with legal, compliance, and privacy experts as needed.
  • Participation in implementing comprehensive incident response workflows.
  • Experience with Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) technologies is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in developing and documenting operational analysis processes.
  • Understanding of network services, vulnerabilities, and attacks.
  • Knowledge of application exploits and vulnerabilities.
  • Familiarity with the CVE program and Common Vulnerability Scoring System (CVSS).

Certifications:
  • None required.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and engage in repetitive motions.
  • Effective communication and listening skills.
  • Office work environment; may require on-call availability outside of regular hours.

Departmental Preferences:
