Overview:
The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing services to patients while overseeing performance improvement initiatives within the nursing department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that nursing practices, standards, and policies align with contemporary research and national benchmarks.
- Actively engage in leadership activities within the healthcare facility.
- Collaborate with other leaders to develop and implement patient care strategies, ensuring the availability of qualified nursing personnel.
- Create, present, and manage the nursing services budget effectively.
General Duties:
- Formulate and execute a comprehensive nursing strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and policies.
- Interpret and enforce nursing and patient care standards to guarantee exceptional nursing service.
- Manage the nursing services budget and monitor expenses diligently.
- Develop a master staffing plan for nursing services.
- Organize and supervise daily nursing operations to ensure optimal coverage and care quality.
- Recruit, assess, and hire qualified nursing staff.
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives within the hospital.
- Maintain effective communication with medical and administrative teams.
- Assess equipment and supply needs for nursing care on both short and long-term bases.
- Plan and implement orientation and training programs for nursing staff development.
- Represent the organization in healthcare initiatives and professional associations.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license and a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- A Master's Degree (MSN or MHA) is required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a CNO in a for-profit healthcare setting is essential.
- Previous experience with Joint Commission accreditation processes is preferred.
Working Conditions:
This role requires prolonged periods of sitting, along with some bending and stretching. The position necessitates normal hearing and vision capabilities. Work is primarily conducted in an office environment with regular interaction with staff and the public.
