Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Equipment Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the functionality of mechanical systems and machinery, aiming to minimize production interruptions. This role involves diagnosing equipment issues and determining the necessity for repairs or adjustments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the urgency of repairs and decide whether immediate action or a work order is required.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions during production, executing repairs as necessary. Post-repair, verify the operational integrity of the equipment.
  • Maintain production machinery in a secure and safe manner.
  • Conduct repairs on all production equipment during assigned shifts.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on machinery following established protocols.
  • Estimate the time and scope of required repairs.
  • Foster teamwork by collaborating effectively with colleagues across different shifts and departments to achieve shared goals.
  • Respond promptly to urgent situations that may lead to production delays or safety hazards.
  • Complete assigned projects and priorities in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all machinery operates safely and as intended.
  • Proactively identify and rectify unsafe conditions to prevent recurrence.
  • Provide support to Engineering, Tool Room, Machine Technicians, and Team Leaders as needed.
  • Accurately complete Maintenance Incident Reports in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate responses to off-hour emergencies related to maintenance and security concerns.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Handle the proper disposal of Blood Borne Pathogens as necessary.
  • Facilitate the delivery and collection of parts and production materials as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 1 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing maintenance position.

Experience Required:

  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and repairing production equipment, including pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficient in operating, inspecting, and repairing air and electric power hand tools.
  • Experience in performing preventative maintenance on industrial machinery.
  • Basic skills in reading blueprints and understanding tolerances.
  • Familiarity with plumbing tasks, including working with copper, steel, and PVC piping.
  • Basic electrical skills for installing and troubleshooting single-phase and three-phase circuits.
  • Understanding of machining and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to weld both steel and aluminum.
  • Capability to fabricate components based on verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot industrial machinery at both basic and advanced levels.
  • Experience in calibrating CNC trimming equipment.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Forklift operator certification (training provided).
  • Certification in Bloodborne pathogens.
