Job Summary

Beacon Hill's client is seeking a highly skilled Patient Access Specialist to serve as a central contact for patients, providers, and payers. This individual will be responsible for assisting patients and healthcare providers in obtaining insurance pre-authorization for procedures. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, operate computer and phone systems, and maintain accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Authorization and Verification: Verify and update patients' insurance and demographic information, research and record payer processes for pre-authorizations and appeals.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to patients and healthcare providers, resolving issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Administrative Tasks: Operate a fax machine, photocopier, and/or printer to communicate patient information, complete work activities in a timely manner, and maintain accurate records.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow regulatory and organizational processes to ensure necessary forms are completed, and maintain HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience: 1 year of physician billing experience, patient insurance verification or pre-authorization experience in a healthcare setting, required; 2 years preferred.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of various insurance plans (HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare, Medicaid) and payors required, basic understanding of medical terminology, and Microsoft Office programs.
