Rehabilitation Services Manager

Job Summary:

The Virginia Department of Human Resource Management is seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Services Manager to lead the Psychosocial Rehabilitation/Recovery Department at the Southern Virginia Mental Health Institute. This dynamic leader will be responsible for directing, integrating, and coordinating the clinical and administrative functions of the department, including occupational therapy, music therapy, recreational therapy, client education, religious services, vocational rehabilitation, community outings, and peer mentoring.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct and manage the daily operations of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation/Recovery Department
  • Develop and implement evidence-based programs to promote recovery and wellness
  • Supervise and lead an interdisciplinary team of therapists and support staff
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery
  • Develop and manage budgets and resources to support departmental operations
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in a related field (e.g., psychology, social work, counseling)
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role in a mental health or rehabilitation setting
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of recovery-based, trauma-informed psychiatric approaches
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensure as a therapist (e.g., OT, PT, music therapy, art therapy)
  • Experience working in a psychiatric hospital or rehabilitation setting
  • Knowledge of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services policies and procedures
