Ultrasound Technologist Job Description

Nemours is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Perform high-quality ultrasound studies to demonstrate various organs and body structures, recording images in standard formats for physician diagnosis.
  • Participate in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assurance and improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance services and implementing actions as needed.
  • Provide accurate preparation instructions to patients and families, answering procedural questions and ensuring patient identification and image documentation.
  • Perform portable ultrasound exams on inpatient units, outpatient clinics, the emergency department, and operating room as needed.
  • Screen patients for contraindications and ensure proper function of equipment, reporting unsafe conditions and incidents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, engage in critical thinking, and communicate effectively to improve the quality of care.
  • Aid in the training of new personnel, students, and physicians.

Requirements:

  • ARDMS registration or eligibility required, with completion of registry within one year of employment.
  • CPR/BLS certification within 90 days of start date.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, have reliable transportation, and work on an on-call basis.
