We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer 2 to join our Submarine Engineering team at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for researching, planning, designing, and developing mechanical products and systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
Key Responsibilities- Apply research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement mechanical systems and products.
- Design and develop mechanical systems and products using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other tools.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify and develop solutions to complex mechanical engineering problems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and reports to support project deliverables.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
- 2 years of relevant exempt experience or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Desired knowledge/experience in hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, or electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience with MATLAB, FEA, and 3D modeling software (e.g. Inventor).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
