Job Overview

The Machine Operator position is a fundamental role within our organization, contributing significantly to our operations as one of the leading steel manufacturers globally. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for managing machinery and performing essential tasks that facilitate the various production and service sectors.

Compensation: Starting pay is $20.00 per hour, with potential growth to $22.00. In addition to competitive wages, employees are eligible for a Quarterly Incentive Bonus Plan following the probationary period. USS - North America provides an attractive benefits package that includes Health, Dental, Life Insurance, 401K, Paid Vacation, 10 Paid Holidays, and Daily Overtime Pay.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute tasks that support multiple production units utilizing basic hand tools, pneumatic devices, gauges, and power tools.
  • Manage, transport, and process products and materials efficiently.
  • Work with materials that may be hot, heavy, sharp, or involve hazardous chemicals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform manual labor and lift weights exceeding 25 lbs.
  • Assist in the inspection and maintenance of machinery.
  • Adapt to various mill environments, which may include extreme temperatures, dirt, grease, moisture, and noise.
  • After initial training, transition into a Machine Technician role, which includes operating material handling equipment such as overhead hoists, forklifts, and lathes.
  • Utilize specialized measuring instruments to ensure the final product meets stringent specifications.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Availability for 8 to 12-hour shifts (Days or Nights), including weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and guidelines is essential. Safety is a core value, necessitating the use of protective gear such as hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and appropriate clothing.
  • Reliability, consistent attendance, and self-motivation are crucial for operational success.

Essential Skills:

  • Mechanical troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Experience with machine setups for production processes.

Salary Range: $20 - $22 / hr
