About the Role:

The Chinese American Service League is seeking a dedicated Housing Counselor to join our team. As a Housing Counselor, you will play a vital role in delivering housing and financial literacy programs, offering personalized support and resources to individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging workshops on housing and financial topics, including pre- and post-purchase counseling, foreclosure prevention, and financial education.
  • Provide personalized, individual counseling to guide clients through the homeownership process, help them avoid foreclosure, and assist them in maintaining financial health.
  • Assist clients with applying for subsidized housing, rental assistance, mortgage relief, property tax exemptions, and more.
  • Conduct outreach and marketing efforts to engage clients from diverse communities, using bilingual platforms.
  • Maintain thorough case notes and accurate records in systems like Counselor Max, ECM, and Salesforce.
  • Represent the agency at community events and meetings when necessary.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience in housing counseling, financial literacy, or a related field, with a strong client service focus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex financial and housing information in a clear, compassionate way.
  • Ability to pass the HUD Certification Exam within the first year of employment.
  • Able to use computers and Microsoft 365.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
