About Amazon Aurora

Amazon Aurora is a MySQL-compatible relational database engine that merges the speed and reliability of high-end commercial databases with the ease and affordability of open-source alternatives. It delivers performance up to five times that of MySQL at a fraction of the cost of traditional commercial databases, while ensuring high availability and reliability.

Your Role

We are seeking enthusiastic engineers to contribute to the development of next-generation database services for the cloud. You will be integral to a team responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing highly scalable distributed database systems that meet stringent availability, reliability, and performance standards.

This is a hands-on role where you will engage in a variety of tasks, from constructing scalable components to mentoring fellow engineers.

Work-Life Balance

We prioritize work-life balance, believing that success at work should not come at the expense of personal life. Our flexible working hours allow you to find a harmonious balance between your professional and personal commitments. This role may involve on-call responsibilities a few days each month, focusing on resolving customer-reported issues efficiently.

Mentorship and Growth

Our team is dedicated to nurturing new talent. With a diverse mix of experience levels, we promote an environment that values knowledge sharing and mentorship. Senior members provide one-on-one guidance and constructive code reviews, ensuring that your career development is a priority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate across teams to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain innovative software solutions.
  • Build high-quality, highly available products.
  • Research and implement solutions that enhance customer experiences.
A Day in Your Life

As you create solutions to improve software architecture efficiencies, you will develop metrics, implement automation, and address software defects' root causes. Your role will involve:

  • Delivering impactful solutions for a large customer base.
  • Participating in design discussions and code reviews.
  • Working cross-functionally to influence business decisions with your technical insights.
  • Thriving in a dynamic development environment focused on priority projects.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language.
  • 5+ years of experience in leading design or architecture of systems.
  • Experience mentoring or leading engineering teams.
  • Strong foundation in object-oriented design principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in the full software development lifecycle.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
