International Military Student Coordinator

The primary objective of this role is to serve as the central point for the administrative oversight of international military trainees attending technical education programs. This includes executing daily in-and out-processing responsibilities and offering direct assistance for international student travel, compensation, and accommodation as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate the activities of the International Military Student Office (IMSO) to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards while fulfilling customer requirements.
- Oversee the processing of International Military Students (IMSs), monitor their training and administrative needs, and prepare them for their return to their home countries.
- Develop, conduct, report, and manage training initiatives for new Training Technicians.
- Ensure the accuracy of documentation related to the travel, payment, and training of international students supported by the IMSO.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the specialized experience criteria outlined in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, specifically for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series.
Specialized Experience for Current Federal Employees:
Applicants should possess at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent in other pay systems. Relevant experience includes:
- Understanding and interpreting various rules, regulations, and procedures related to the IMSO to resolve complex issues.
- Proficiency in office automation software to produce documents such as letters, reports, and spreadsheets to support IMSO operations.
Specialized Experience for External Applicants:
External candidates must have at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-08 level or equivalent. Relevant experience includes:
- Ability to interpret rules and regulations pertaining to the IMSO to address procedural challenges.
- Experience with office automation tools to create various documents supporting IMSO functions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Your qualifications will be assessed based on your knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:
- Familiarity with DoD, HQ USAF, and MAJCOM International Military Student processing principles and procedures.
- Capability to develop, track, and report on IMSO training tasks.
- Understanding of office safety and security regulations.
- Skill in conducting audits and evaluating processes to identify and rectify deficiencies.
- Effective communication skills with diverse groups, both orally and in writing.
- Proficiency in using common office equipment and software for data management.
