Job Overview:

The MRI Technologist plays a vital role in delivering patient care through the operation of diagnostic MRI equipment. This professional is skilled in producing high-quality images that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. The MRI Technologist must demonstrate the ability to provide exceptional patient care while exercising sound judgment and discretion during MRI procedures.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Must hold a valid license as a Radiology Technologist in the State of New Jersey and be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in MRI.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Standard hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Days of operation: Weekdays
  • Employment Type: Per Diem

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly reviews each requisition prior to the examination to ensure all necessary information is available.
  • Confirms patient orders in the chart and physician script before proceeding with the examination.
  • Selects the appropriate type and number of images required for accurate diagnosis.
  • Verifies patient identification using two forms of ID, such as name and date of birth for outpatients, and wrist bracelet and medical record number for inpatients.
  • Assesses for allergies and ensures proper patient preparations are completed prior to the examination.
  • Effectively communicates with patients and their families before, during, and after the procedure to alleviate any concerns.
  • Ensures patient safety and comfort throughout the imaging process.
  • Assists patients onto and off the examination table.
  • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Responds calmly to emergency situations and patient call bells as needed.
