About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of University Relations to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our university relations team, you will play a critical role in advancing our institution's mission and goals through strategic partnerships, fundraising, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Strategy: Provide visionary leadership to our university relations team, developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to enhance our relationships with key stakeholders, including alumni, donors, community leaders, and corporate partners.

  • Fundraising and Development: Lead and execute strategies for securing significant financial contributions to support our university's priorities and initiatives, including identifying, soliciting, and stewarding major gift prospects and donors.

  • Annual Giving and Donor Engagement: Develop and execute strategies to increase participation and financial support from alumni and institutional community, implementing innovative approaches to engage donors and improve donor retention and recurring gifts.

  • Alumni Engagement and Community Outreach: Develop initiatives to increase alumni engagement and foster strong connections through targeted programming, events, and communications, building and maintaining partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and government entities to enhance our university's presence and stakeholder awareness.

  • Team Management and Collaboration: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of professionals in support of our university's mission, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve our goals and objectives.

Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree in an applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience: Five years of related experience in fundraising, preferably in a higher education setting.

  • Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of fundraising techniques, tax laws pertaining to gifts/donations, and grant availability raising techniques, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective planning, leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills.
