Job Summary

The Deputy Director of Operations will provide operational oversight in support of day-to-day functions of the Sunmount ITO Campus. This includes conducting daily clinical rounds meetings across various programs within the Sunmount ITO Campus, serving as part of the ITO Governing Body and the Regional leadership team, and providing expert clinical consultation to state-operated programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide operational oversight in support of day-to-day functions of the Sunmount ITO Campus.
  • Conduct daily clinical rounds meetings across various programs within the Sunmount ITO Campus.
  • Serve as part of the ITO Governing Body and the Regional leadership team.
  • Provide expert clinical consultation to state-operated programs in conjunction with local Medical Directors, Directors of Nursing, and/or other Subject Matter Experts.
  • Assist in conducting case conferences and educational sessions to medical/clinical staff to present information on complex cases and treatment strategies.
  • Assist with the discharge planning of individuals from various settings, especially in terms of health care needs.
  • Assist State Operations to achieve optimal outcomes through a focus on appropriate treatment, clinical quality assurance, and service utilization.
  • Provide guidance in response to investigations and recommendations from the Mortality Review Committee, NYS Justice Center, and the Office of Investigations and Internal Affairs.
  • Assist with ensuring regulatory compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations governing Intermediate Care Facilities.
  • Provide technical assistance in responding to NYS Department of Health surveys and citations.
  • Assist in the oversight of medically related contracts and/or providers.
  • Serve as the primary administrator on call for the Sunmount Campus.
  • Utilize data to improve access, quality, or treatment outcomes for special populations.
  • Develop and implement strategies for assessing and improving the quality of and appropriateness of care.
  • Support the region in evaluating and establishing district policies and procedures that assure delivery of high-quality clinical/medical services, regulatory compliance, and high-quality outcomes for individuals in receipt of services in state-operated programs.
  • Support the use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) by having an active role in the utilization, review, and analysis of EHR data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain technical guidance and training to ensure consistency of operations across the region.
  • Oversee the management of activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Master's Degree in a mental hygiene discipline or a valid license to practice medicine in New York State or Canada, and three years of progressively responsible administrative, management, or supervisory experience in a mental hygiene or health/human services setting.

Alternatively, the candidate may have a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and five years of progressively responsible administrative, management, or supervisory experience in a mental hygiene or health/human services setting.

Or, the candidate may have ten years of progressively responsible administrative, management, or supervisory experience in a setting whose purpose is to serve the needs of a developmentally disabled population.
