Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Youth Career Development Specialist to join our team at Alliance for Workforce Development, Inc. As a key member of our workforce development team, you will play a critical role in supporting the implementation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Eligibility and Case Management: Determine program eligibility for WIOA services, conduct eligibility interviews, collect necessary documentation, and ensure accurate and complete verification and documentation in accordance with program requirements.
  • Outreach and Orientation: Provide outreach and orientation to individuals applying for participation in WIOA programs, including presenting program information and recruitment materials to community partners and prospective clients.
  • Client Support and Referral: Maintain a caseload of youth clients, encourage completion of education and/or job placement, and refer customers to other community resources as needed.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication: Participate as a member of the integrated Rapid Response team, assist other programs in AFWD counties with Rapid Response activities, and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Professional Development and Continuous Improvement: Stay current with policies, procedures, and regulations related to WIOA programs, and contribute to the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance program effectiveness.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Two years of clerical or related college-level study, or two years of clerical and administrative assistant experience.
  • Previous Experience and Skills: Previous WIOA program experience or case management experience a plus. Ability to travel, operate a motor vehicle, and arrange transportation as needed. Valid California Driver's License and good driving record required.
  • Certifications and Training: Satisfactory completion of a Department of Justice Background check consistent with working with youth. Within 12 months of hire, must obtain NoRTEC required Case Management Certificate(s).
Physical and Environmental Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This is largely a sedentary role at a desk or working on a computer. This would require the ability to lift office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds waist height, open filing cabinets, turning, twisting, kneeling, and bending as necessary.
