POSITION SUMMARY
The Custodian plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of the workplace, which encompasses various areas such as offices, restrooms, break rooms, and production floors. The individual will utilize appropriate cleaning agents and techniques to maintain a hygienic environment.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consistent and timely attendance is vital for the success of this role and the overall effectiveness of the team.

  • Maintain cleanliness in offices, lobbies, restrooms, break rooms, locker facilities, outdoor areas, and production floors.
    • Tasks include collecting waste, replenishing supplies, sanitizing toilets, sinks, and surfaces, cleaning windows and mirrors, dusting, and managing floor care.
  • Ensure proper drainage and unclog as necessary. Sanitize water dispensers, fountains, and eye wash stations.
  • Utilize cleaning chemicals safely, adhering to guidelines and wearing suitable personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Dispose of waste from the facility, including offices and break areas.
  • Perform floor maintenance, which includes sweeping, mopping, scrubbing tile surfaces, and vacuuming carpets. This also involves using floor cleaning equipment on the production floor.
  • Clean windows and window sills.
  • Monitor supply inventory and reorder as needed, including kitchen and breakroom items.
  • Follow the cleaning schedule and take direction from supervisors.
  • Maintain the exterior of the building as required, including mowing, debris removal, snow clearance, and salting during winter conditions.
  • Utilize clean tools and equipment for all cleaning tasks.
  • Operate a forklift to assist with various duties.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in custodial services.
  • A minimum of 1 year of forklift operation experience.
  • Safety-oriented: Consistently prioritize safety by demonstrating safe work practices and fostering a secure work environment.
  • Effective communication skills: Clearly convey information and actively listen to ensure comprehension.
  • Time management: Efficiently utilize time to complete assigned tasks.
  • Sense of urgency: Prioritize tasks effectively to address the most critical needs first.
  • Attendance: Must consistently arrive on time and be fit for duty.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods, potentially for the entire shift.
  • Capability to exert moderate to heavy physical effort, with lifting requirements up to 50 pounds.
  • Strong range of motion is necessary.

  • Must be able to see, speak, and hear effectively.
  • Ability to read instructions and utilize measuring devices.
  • Must be able to navigate both even and uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
  • Must wear appropriate PPE, including seatbelts when required.
  • Physical capability to access all areas of the facility and grounds.
  • Some tasks may require working in confined spaces.
  • Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus on small details are necessary.
  • A clean driving record is essential for this position, as driving is a key function.
