PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Work closely with the Guest Services Supervisor to set standards and objectives for effective facility sanitation.
- Ensure adherence to Newport Aquarium's policies and procedures while recommending improvements for operational consistency and safety.
- Oversee and guide a team of up to 15 individuals to foster high morale and clarify their roles in enhancing visitor experiences.
- Evaluate team performance to guarantee compliance with departmental standards and monitor progress.
- Assist management in cultivating a motivated and efficient team.
- Encourage positive interactions among guests and employees to maintain satisfaction and safety.
- Stay informed about aquarium events to effectively respond to guest inquiries.
- Address feedback from guests and hosts regarding policies and procedures, escalating issues when necessary.
- Create a welcoming and professional environment to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Manage inventory and aid in the procurement of supplies.
- Provide training to keep team members updated on aquarium operations.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to grooming standards.
- Perform House and Grounds responsibilities, including mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned by Guest Services management.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous supervisory experience is advantageous.
- Experience in industrial cleaning is preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is beneficial.
- Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
- Ability to think quickly and respond calmly to changes or emergencies.
- Strong organizational and time management skills for effective multitasking.
- Responsible handling of confidential information.
- Preferred certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, BBP, and Emergency Response.
- Aptitude for following written and verbal instructions.
- Willingness to accept guidance for professional development.
- Ability to work effectively in team environments or independently.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced, customer-oriented setting.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.
- Good physical health to perform strenuous tasks.
- No allergies to animals or plants that may impede work.
- Capability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and move freely.
- Physical strength to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Immunity to potential infections or parasitic diseases.
